Sprouts supermarket to anchor new shopping center in Woodbridge

WOODBRIDGE – Construction has begun on a new shopping center at the traffic circle at Route 35 and Route 1 that will feature an organic farmer’s market as the anchor tenant.

On Wednesday Mayor John E. McCormac and Robert G. Paulus, Wick Companies LLC president, along with other development and township officials participated in a groundbreaking ceremony for the Cloverleaf Retail Center at the former historic Cloverleaf traffic circle.

“The Cloverleaf redevelopment project will transform the long vacant and underutilized site that was formerly occupied by Pier One into a productive commercially successful modern retail center that will offer up-scale marketing, retail, dining and shopping experiences,” McCormac said. “We are thrilled to have Sprouts, a terrific national organic farmer’s market, as the anchor tenant with multiple clothing retailers, restaurants and health-related businesses expressing interest in locating at the crossroads location.”

Cloverleaf Center is expected to open in the second half of 2025.

Woodbridge and Wick Company have a existing working relationship after developing numerous projects including the Red Oak Senior Living Apartments which replaced Stern Towers and Green Oak Senior Living Complex which is replacing Olsen Towers. Both projects offer senior residents better living conditions without any increase in rent.

The Wick Companies Cloverleaf Center Development Project is named after the first Cloverleaf intersection in New Jersey where for many years the traffic circle directed vehicles through Routes 1 and 35 prior to the construction of the underpass.

The new Cloverleaf Center will include more than 60,000 square feet of retail space and has secured the anchor tenant – Sprouts Farmers Market, which is a national organic food supermarket chain and is finalizing a lease with a national retail footwear company.

Sprouts Farmers Market has three stores in New Jersey, with other locations in Aberdeen, Marlton and Haddon Township and more than 400 nationwide.

Cloverleaf Center is also in various stages of discussions with several national retailers, including Loft, CAVA, Turning Point, Paris Baguette, Habit Burger and Duck Donuts.
