SR 20 N Cascades Highway reopens for spring & summer travel

WENATCHEE — State Route 20 N Cascades Highway officially reopened, after seasonal closure, at 10 a.m. Friday.

The Washington State Department of Transportation and the North Cascades National Park Service Complex took to Facebook earlier this week to announce that road would be opening up for spring and summer travel.

The road is closed seasonally to protect travelers from potential weather-related hazards such as heavy snowfall and avalanches.

Though the road has now reopened, both organizations warn drivers to be cautious as winter conditions may linger for a while longer.

Campgrounds, as well as visitor and information centers, will remain closed until May.
