Steel Warehouse planning expansion into Jefferson County, creating more than 70 jobs

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. (WVLT) – On Wednesday, Gov. Bill Lee and other state leaders announced Steel Warehouse has plans to expand into Jefferson City.

Steel Warehouse’s plans include locating in and retrofitting the former Footwear Industries of Tennessee building, located on Municipal Drive in Jefferson City.

Officials said the project also plans to create more than 70 new jobs with an investment of nearly $20 million in innovative equipment, which will support construction equipment, agriculture, lawn and garden, and truck and trailer industries.

I thank Steel Warehouse for its investment in Tennessee and am excited to see the number of skilled tradesmen and tradeswomen that will benefit from the company’s expansion in Jefferson City,” said Lee.I look forward to seeing the prosperity that follows today’s announcement and am ready to support Steel Warehouse in further developing the dedicated workforce across this region.”

Rep. Jeremy Faison (R-Cosby) said the jobs it will create will be a major boost to the economy.

“Steel Warehouse will be an excellent addition to Jefferson City’s thriving business community,” Faison said. “The company’s new location will provide 70 new jobs for hard-working Tennesseans and be a major boost to our region’s economy.”

Steel Warehouse was founded in South Bend, Indiana and has 15 locations across the United States.
