Stolen lawnmower stalls 13-year-old’s Summer business in Toledo

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – When we first met Tre’Shawn Pittard, he was 11 years old and the one behind the roar of a lawnmower. Nearly two years later, the Toledo neighborhood where Tre’Shawn now lives is quiet after someone stole his mower.

“So, I was coming back from cutting grass and I put it on the porch. I went inside to go cool down and they stole it,” said Tre’Shawn.

The theft itself happened last year. Tre’Shawn said someone donated him a brand new lawnmower after 13 Action News first told you about his budding young business in Sept. 2022.

“It was brand new. I only had it for like 2 months,” explained Tre’Shawn, who said it was his only working mower. “I got like 3 new lawnmowers from different people around Toledo, and one of them got ate up by my aunt’s dog. The other one got stolen, and one’s in the back, but we need some gas and oil for it.”

Tre’Shawn’s mother said her now 13-year-old son is getting requests for lawn service, but he’s stuck without a way to cut the grass.

“It gives me something to do when I’m bored. So, I’m just not in the house sitting down playing games. Sometimes, I’m just sitting there playing with my siblings when I don’t have any clients,” added Tre’Shawn, who said he and his siblings hope they can get their lawnmowing service going again this Summer before he starts 7th Grade in the Fall.
