Students to go on annual shopping spree at Clara Barton Hawthorne Holiday Store

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – Students at Clara Barton Hawthorne can start checking off names on their holiday lists this weekend.

The elementary school is hosting its 18th annual Holiday Store from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 in the gym at Clara Barton Elementary School.

Students have the opportunity to purchase items for everybody on their gift list for all ages from babies, up to grandma and grandpa, and even the family pet.

All items are $1. A wide array of gift items will be available for purchase including toys, household items, jewelry, holiday decorations, tools, hats, mittens, games, pet toys and much more.

Students are encouraged to bring their own shopping bags to carry their purchases. The store is available only to students and siblings. No parents allowed.

Volunteers will dress up as elves to assist the students. Students have the option of having their items gift-wrapped by the elves right away for free or wrapping the items themselves during classroom parties later in December.

There will also be a bake sale and hot chocolate stand set up in the hallway outside the gym.

Items for the Holiday Store are bought using money from donations and previous year’s sales. All money from the Holiday Store is put right back into the next year’s store.

The store sells more than a thousand gifts each year.
