Study Finds Safest Blue-Collar Jobs
Good Guys Injury Law analyzed workplace safety data across ten major industrial occupations to pinpoint the safest blue-collar jobs. The study found that paving and surfacing equipment operators are America’s safest blue-collar workers, showing zero incidents in most accident categories. Factors included fatal injuries, transportation accidents, falls, harmful substance exposure, and equipment-related incidents. Each category was normalized and weighted for balanced scoring.
Key findings:
- Paving, surfacing, and tamping equipment operators lead the rank of the safest blue-collar jobs with the highest safety score.
- Sheet metal workers are reported to have zero nonfatal injuries, raking second to paving operators, primarily due to more falls, slips, and trips.
- Operating engineers specializing in heavy equipment operations have a solid safety record with an incident rate of 7.9, securing their place in the top five.
