Study: New Jersey’s Favorite Fitness Activity Different Than Most Americans
One of the ways Americans are combating the Obesity Epidemic is by participating in more Fitness Activities. The United States Centers For Disease Control and Prevention says over 40 percent of Americans are dealing with Obesity.
In 2023, 242 million Americans participated in fitness activities outside of the gym. So the research team at Casino.ca wanted to find out what physical activities that people are participating in the most.
After surveying over 4,000 people across the United States, they found that basketball is the most popular Fitness Activity in America. But that is not the most popular form of Physical Activity preferred by residents of New Jersey.
What Is New Jersey’s Favorite Fitness Activity
While 19 states go-to Physical Activity is Basketball and the residents of 10 states love Hiking, neither is the preferred Fitness Activity in New Jersey.
Tennis is the most popular Fitness Activity for residents of The Garden State. Rated one of the Best States for Tennis Players and Fans in America, New Jersey has approximately a third of its residents playing Tennis.
This result is not surprising because New Jersey is also one of the Healthiest States in America. New Jersey has some of the lowest rates of Tobacco use and Obesity in the United States.
Other popular Fitness Activities in New Jersey include Basketball, Pickleball, Golf, and Soccer. But the number one sport most popular to watch for New Jersey residents is Football.
However, tennis is not one of the sports that made it to the list of the most popular sports at New Jersey High Schools. Did one of your favorite Fitness Activities make this list?
