Sue Bird on Building a Women’s Sports Ecosystem
For Sue Bird, it all comes down to when. She won two national championships at the University of Connecticut, four WNBA championships with the Seattle Storm (where she’s now a minority owner) and a staggering five gold medals with the US national team. Along the way, Bird realized she could play the game pretty well. The key differentiator became the word “when.”
“As time goes by, you’re not the fastest, you’re not the quickest,” Bird says on the latest episode of The Deal with Alex Rodriguez and Jason Kelly. “But I knew when to do those things. I knew when to pass. I knew when to shoot. I knew when this needed that or that needed this.”
