Summer sports camp hosts hundreds of Siouxland kids
SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – Some Siouxland kids had the chance to play sports and make new friends, during summer sports camps in the Sioux City metro on Friday, July 26.
These kids played basketball and got to dance at “The Arena.”
Others spent the morning at the “CNOS Fieldhouse” playing volleyball.
At Riverside Park, kids could play baseball and softball.
Campers were coached by Siouxland Sports Academy & Miracle League volunteers, who were just as excited as kids to take part.
“There’s a lot of pressure, I think, in today’s world with sports, but today’s a day where we have kids from all different levels and coaches giving back. So, a lot of great energy in the room, and a lot of fun we’re having with these kids. But the main goal is like I said, were just to work hard and have a good time,” said James Maher of Siouxland Sports Academy.
More than 400 kids registered for the camp, which was free. For them, there was no shortage of activities to enjoy.
“We played a little shooting game where you have to shoot to four. And, a little game of ‘Knockout’. My favorite thing I love to do dance and basketball right now is really fun,” said one of the young campers.
The camp was for kids from kindergarten to 6th grade.
