Summer Sports: Ridley Area Little League 10U team wins Section 8 championship

Ronnie Mitnick pitched a four-inning complete game Tuesday as the Ridley Area Little League 10U team captured the Section 8 championship with a 12-2 victory over Upper Providence.

Ryan Larkin led the Ridley Area offense with two hits and three RBIs, while Jackson Paup, Simon Burkhart, Jace McFadden, Alexei Revak and Matt Kelly all contributed hits and RBIs.

Ridley Area advances to the state tournament Monday at Back Mountain Little League in Dallas.

Mid-County League

Jeison Peralta threw a complete game to lead the Marple Tigers to an 8-0 victory over Garnet Valley, evening the best-of-three Senior division semifinal series at a game apiece.

Peralta allowed three hits and two walks while striking out seven. Peralta, Evan Thomas and Brian Protesto each drove in two runs for the Tigers.

Delco League

Brian Fitzpatrick (double) and Mason Rasmussen (two RBIs) each recorded three hits, propelling Ridley to a 7-4 victory over Aston Valley.

Shawn Edevane led the Knights (10-14-3) with a double and three RBIs.

Narberth 3, Drexel Hill 2 >> The victory snapped the Outsiders’ (3-23) 10-game losing streak.

Jin Lee scattered six hits and two runs over six innings, striking out seven, to earn the win. Tom Kozlusky and Teddy Molineaux collected two hits apiece.

Auston Cannon went 2-for-3 with a double for the Ducks (10-14-1).

Softball

Deadon LLC clinched a spot in the Brandywine Valley Seniors championship round by conquering top-seeded St. Anthony’s, 18-5.

Al D’Iorio had three hits, including a home run, and George Poole added three hits and scored three runs. Mike Gast had two RBI singles and Barry Hoxter delivered a bases-loaded hit during a five-run seventh inning.

Howard “The Hat” Gardner earned the win on the mound for Deadon.

Deadon will compete in the best-of-three finals at Thornbury Park Field beginning Thursday morning.
