...EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM PDT FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Hot daytime temperatures near 105 degrees and limited
overnight cooling with morning lows in the mid 60s to mid 70s
through most of this week will result in a prolonged period of
Major HeatRisk and heat health impacts.

* WHERE...Northern Washoe County, Western Nevada Basin and Range
including Pyramid Lake, Greater Reno-Carson City-Minden Area, and
Mineral and Southern Lyon Counties.

* WHEN...Until 10 AM PDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat events, particularly for those working or
participating in outdoor activities.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave
children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach
lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
