T20 World Cup: Amul to sponsor USA, South Africa cricket teams
In a ceremony held in New York, Amul was named the Lead Arm sponsor of the USA national cricket team. The tournament opener is scheduled between USA and Canada on June 1.
Meanwhile, South Africa will play their tournament opener against Sri Lanka on June 3.
Having a rich history of sponsoring cricket teams, including the Netherlands, Amul’s global presence extends to the USA, where Amul milk is now available for purchase.
“This association with Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), responsible for marketing milk and milk products under the brand name Amul, signifies a significant step towards expanding and popularizing cricket across the nation,” the USA cricket board said in a release.
In recent sporting events, USA emerged victorious against Canada with a 4-0 win in a bilateral series, showcasing their potential in the cricketing arena.Venu Pisike, Chairman of USA Cricket, expressed his enthusiasm for collaborating with esteemed brands like Amul, emphasizing their shared commitment to excellence both on and off the field.The United States is yet to announce its squad for the marquee tournament.
Jayen Mehta, Managing Director of Amul, highlighted the significance of this partnership, stating that the goodness of Amul Milk will fuel the USA Cricket team’s pursuit of success on the global stage.
“The goodness of Amul Milk will empower the USA Cricket team to win hearts and laurels from across the world. We wish our best to the team for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024,” he said.
“Amul has been associated with the South Africa team in the 2019 ODI series and 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup. We are proud to further strengthen our association with the South Africa men’s cricket team and wish them all the best for the T20 World Cup,” he added on the association with the Proteas.
On March 25, Mehta had said that Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) will be launching four variants of milk in the US market within a week, to cater to Indian diaspora and Asian population.
In the near future, the dairy maker also expects launch fresh milk products like paneer, curd and butter milk in the near future.
The turnover of GCMMF stood at around Rs 55,000 crore in the 2022-23 fiscal, up 18.5 per cent from the previous year.
GCMMF is already exporting dairy products in about 50 countries.
