Tabitha Brown Talks Fall Fashion, Reveals Wardrobe Secret You Just Might Need To Know

Tabitha Brown is a certified fashionista!

With her large afro and colorful palette, her style is uniquely her own. While she has the confidence to rock anything she so chooses, that doesn’t mean every ‘fit she loves has always been an optimal choice. Why? Well, according to Brown, her incontinence was an issue she needed to consider when picking out looks, both casually and for a night out — or possibly on-air.

“It could be as simple as me loving bright colors. I’m not a person who wears black a lot. Even going to the gym, I would wear black tights because I’d be like, Lord, I don’t want to have on nothing too light just in case,” she revealed to VIBE. “But it’s the same thing going out wearing solids, which is, I guess maybe part of the reason I love patterns. When you wear a solid color, like a red or a pink, pants, it’s going to show up even if you sweat, which is also part of it. But if you have a bladder leak, if you sit down, it’s like, ‘oh Lord, I hope nothing is on the back of my pants or in the front of my pants.’”

Brown found her solution in Always Discreet, a line of products meant to address incontinence and provide protection for those who need a more security than a panty liner without the thickness of a traditional pad. For Brown, it’s been a godsend, but she also understands why so many women are hesitant to admit they need such a product. Her goal, however, is to make them comfortable enough to address the issue, just as she has.

“Girl, it is nothing to be embarrassed about,” Brown insists. “We are in this together. You are not alone. And honey, you can get your life back. You can go ahead and use it so that you don’t have to be ashamed or scared to go out and laugh with your friends. Go work out. Go to a party wearing something that you really want to wear. This is how we get our life back.”

She shared of her own story, “It started for me very early in my 30s after I had my son, and I mean something as simple as sneezing and I was like, ‘Wait, did I just pee on myself? Jesus.’ It became a real thing and I was like, ‘Lord, why nobody talk about this?’ And I think it’s because even when it first happened to me, it was embarrassing, it was one of those things that you feel terrible about. And I wanted to erase that stigma and shame and embarrassment and try to help women start a conversation.”

With shame and embarrassment behind her, Brown is now able to rock exactly what she likes without fear of an unexpected tinkle ruining her autumn wardrobe.

“I’m vegan, so I don’t wear leather. But I love a good printed boot, embroidered or patterned boot with fabric,” Brown shared of her fall fashion picks. “I love, love, love bell bottoms, corduroy bell bottoms. I’m just a hippie at heart and I wear afro, girl, so the ’70s is just such a vibe for me. I love a good corduroy bell bottom. I love a good sweater with tons of color.”
