The Taiwan Tourism Administration has unveiled a new initiative aimed at revitalizing tourism across the island with the introduction of the ‘Taiwan Pass’.

Launched on Monday, this limited-time travel package is priced attractively at NT$2,800 for two travelers and integrates services from Taiwan Railway Corp, local metro systems, and tourist buses.

Available until September 30, the Taiwan Pass offers unlimited travel on Taiwan Railways trains for a duration of five days, allowing travelers to explore the island at their own pace.

This package is open to both Taiwanese residents and foreign nationals, encouraging domestic tourism as well as attracting international visitors.

In addition to unlimited train travel, the Taiwan Pass includes the option to select one regional metro service from a variety of choices.

Travelers can opt for a two-day Taipei FunPass, round-trip rides on Taoyuan Metro, a 48-hour tourist pass for Taichung Metro, or a two-day pass for Kaohsiung Metro, which also covers the city’s light rail network.

To enhance the travel experience further, participants can choose round-trip tickets to one of four popular Taiwan Tourist Shuttle routes.

These routes include destinations like Nantou County’s picturesque Cingjing Farm or Sun Moon Lake, Chiayi County’s scenic Alishan, and the stunning Kenting area in Pingtung County.

To avail themselves of the Taiwan Pass, travelers must purchase it from designated outlets such as Klook or Lion Travel and use it by November 30, as stipulated by the Tourism Administration.

The pass activation process involves downloading the Taiwan Pass mobile app and entering a redemption code received from the outlets.

Moreover, in an effort to support the recovery of eastern Taiwan following a recent powerful earthquake in Hualien County, travelers using Taiwan Railways services under this pass are required to reserve their trips between Toucheng and Dawu stations on the Eastern Line.

Reservations can be conveniently made through the Taiwan Pass App at any of the 18 designated train stations.

The launch of the Taiwan Pass marks a strategic move by the government to stimulate tourism and bolster economic activities in the aftermath of recent challenges.

With its comprehensive offerings and flexible travel options, the Taiwan Pass is set to appeal to a wide range of travelers seeking to explore the diverse attractions and cultural richness of Taiwan.
