Target reveals its plans ahead of the holiday shopping season

MINNEAPOLIS – With summer on its way out, Target has announced plans for the holiday shopping season.

The Minneapolis retailer is pushing back its “Target Circle Week,” which this year will take place between Oct. 6-12, a week later than last year. The discount event for Circle members will be week-long, after initially starting as a two-day event.

The “Deal of the Day” program is also back, with new one-day-only deals available each day of “Target Circle Week.” It will also return for Target Circle members from Nov. 1 through the rest of the holiday season.

Target will offer its “biggest holiday assortment ever,” saying it will have 50% more “new items” than last year, holiday toys under $20, and stocking stuffers under $5.

Target previously announced price reductions on 5,000 frequently purchased items in many markets to help shoppers stock up for the season.

In addition to its holiday deals, Target announced it plans to hire around 100,000 additional seasonal team members across stores and supply chain facilities.
