Taunton Eats: Favorite Portuguese foods, live music at Taunton Sports’ Holy Ghost Feast

We’ve compiled a list of meal deals, special events, and mouth-watering offerings at local eateries and markets to consider when planning your next night on the town, or a quick stop for a tasty treat.
This week, Taunton Sports Club is gearing up for its Holy Ghost Feast. Plus, we’ve got fish and chips, s’mores lattes, outdoor dining, and even a fun Father’s Day special from a local bakery.

Holy Ghost Feast at Taunton Sports Club
Taunton Sports Club, 33 Baker Rd. W., has announced the schedule for the 2024 Holy Ghost Feast.
Hosted by the Irmandade do Espirito Santo da Santissima Trindade, the feast will be held from Friday, June 21, to Sunday, June 23.
On Friday, June 21, the feast begins at 6 p.m. and goes until midnight.
There will be traditional festa foods like caçoila, bifana, linguiça and peppers, stewed favas, barbecue sardines, and malassadas. There will also be barbecue chicken, fries, chicken tenders, hamburgers, and hot dogs. Plus a selection of cold beverages, wine, and beer.
Arlindo Andrade will provide the evening’s entertainment.
The food and festivities continue on Saturday, June 22, from 6 p.m. to midnight.
Saturday’s opening act will be Avo Brito, and the entertainment will be headlined by Jorge Ferreira.
The feast concludes on Sunday, June 23, from 2 to 9 p.m.
A procession will leave Taunton Sports Club at 11 a.m., accompanied by St. Cecelia’s Band for the coronation Mass at noon at Taunton Sports Club Hall.
Immediately after Mass, traditional Holy Ghost sopas (soup) will be served.
The feast opens at 2 p.m., serving up everyone’s favorite foods.
All are welcome.
Get fish and chips every Friday at Aire Taunton
Every Friday, you can fly on over to the Taunton Municipal Airport for fish and chips at Aire Taunton.
Their chef’s signature fish and chips are available on Fridays, from noon to 6 p.m.
Local haddock comes with your choice of English beer batter, extra crispy panko, or New England style.

New summer drink special at The Neighbors Coffee & Co.
The Neighbors Coffee & Co., 32 Weir St., Taunton, has a new summer drink special.
Try a s’mores latte, with housemade mocha and cookie butter sauces.
It’s available hot or iced, with your choice of milk.

Patio now open at The Pearl
You can dine al fresco at The Pearl, 76 Weir St., Taunton.
They held their patio grand opening on May 31.
New flavor at Dough Licious Pizza
There’s a new flavor this month at Dough Licious Pizza, 539 Berkley St., Berkley.
The “Buffaque Ranch” pizza comes with bbq sauce, ranch dressing and A1 sauce as the base; three-blend pizza cheese, and chicken tossed in bbq sauce, with a drizzle of Buffalo sauce. Ask your server for a free sample.

The outdoor bar and dining, and entertainment, are back for the summer at Lorenzo’s Italian Restaurant & Bar, 500 W. Grove St., Middleboro.

Father’s Day ‘wings’ and ‘beer’ from Traditions Bakeshop
You can pre-order something a little different for Father’s Day from Traditions Bakeshop, 83 Winthrop St., Rehoboth.
They’ve got Father’s Day platters of “wings” and beer.”
Platters come with eight peanut butter white chocolate truffle “wings” and a cake pop “beer.”
