T&C Tried & True: The Bias Cut Pant That All the Fashion Editors Are Wearing
Here at T&C, we pride ourselves on our discerning eye for quality. With Tried & True, our editors will give you an inside look at the pieces they simply cannot live without.
A few months ago, I noticed that a lot of the fashion editors I know had started to wear these amazing—and not overly casual— silky pants. They were–and are—perfect. It very much seemed to be an IYKYK thing. The next logical step up from the summery linen pant, the Vince High Waist Satin Bias Pant are ultra-wearable and comfortable, and they are much more elevated than the silk pajama bottoms that you could feasibly wear out and about.
First thing’s first, I bought myself a pair in the sophisticated muted gold colorway, which has been amazing for summer. With a pair of heels, they make me look super elongated and they don’t cling to my legs: crucial in the heat. I also love the texture of the satin, which is an added extra to the beautiful sheen they give off. I bought a size small, but honestly, if I could go back I might even size down because they are long, and the elasticized waistband is a bit loose at my natural waist, even though wearing them a bit roomier works too. But what I love most is how easy it is to wear them and look polished. A true slip-on-and-go style. I can be comfortable and not look overly casual. And with everything cut on the bias, the way the fabric lays and moves with my body is really elegant.
I’ve worn them with knits and crochet tops for a summery vibe, but they look really cool with a button down and a pair of flats during the day. And I would venture to guess you could wear them to a cocktail party with the right pair of heels and a dressier blouse. All in all, a win. I wear them once a week—and love them so much I will be buying another pair in black to swap in to my rotation in the fall when my seasonal color palette changes. In other words: these pants, which are breeze to style, are a wardrobe jack of all trades. Run, don’t walk.
