Teddy Bridgewater leads Miami Northwestern to Florida state title

Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, a first-round pick in 2014, retired from playing football after the 2023 season. He’s now coaching the game.

And it’s going well.

In his first year as head coach at his alma mater, Miami Northwestern Senior High School, Bridgewater led the team to the Class 3A Florida High School Athletic Association state title on Saturday night.

Bridgewater’s Bulls trounced previously unbeaten Raines, 41-0.

The 32-year-old Bridgewater was hired to turn around a team that went 4-6 in 2023. And he absolutely did. Miami Northwestern went 12-2, and the Bulls outscored their opponents, 262-12, in the postseason.

Drafted by the Vikings, Bridgewater suffered a devastating knee injury just before the start of the 2016 season. He spent four years in Minnesota, before eventually spending time with seven teams. His final stop was in Detroit.

He appeared in 79 games with 65 starts. He was the primary starter in Minnesota in 2015, Carolina in 2020, and Denver in 2021.
