Teen sentenced for robbery, killing at Kansas business

JOHNSON COUNTY — A Kansas teen is going to prison for a robbery and murder at a business in Shawnee, Kansas.

This week, Johnson County Judge Christina Dunn Gyllenborg, sentencd 19-year-old  Kyleigh I. Guzman, to 147 months for the murder of Jarod Rogers.

In March, the Judge sentenced one of the other teens involved, 19-year-old Fernando Reyes-Lara, to 400 months in prison.

On January 17, Reyes-Lara pleaded guilty to Second Degree Murder and Aggravated Robbery in the death of  Rogers, according to the Johnson County District Attorney’s office.

On Nov. 30, 2022, police made a welfare check on a business in Shawnee and found Rogers with a gunshot wound. He was transported to an area hospital and died two days later.
