Tennessee College World Series game delayed by weather in Omaha

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Impending weather has forced changes to the men’s College World Series schedule for June 19, the NCAA announced Tuesday.

The game between Tennessee and the winner of Florida State/ North Carolina will now begin at 3 p.m. EST, a delay of one hour from the original first pitch time. The game will be shown on ESPN.

On the other side of the bracket, the game between Kentucky and Florida originally scheduled for Tuesday evening will now begin at 11 a.m. EST on Wednesday. The final game scheduled for Wednesday, between Texas A&M and the winner of Kentucky/Florida will start 7 p.m. EST.

With Tennessee yet to lose in the double-elimination format, the Volunteers could confirm their place in the College World Series Finals with a win on Wednesday. A loss would set up a decisive game scheduled for Thursday, June 20.

The Finals will begin on Saturday, June 22 at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN. The second game will take place on Sunday, June 23 at 2 p.m. on ABC and, if necessary, a third game would take place on Monday, June 24 at 7 p.m. on ESPN.

Tennessee’s best-ever finish came in 1951 when they finished as national runners-up.
