Texarkana College hosts career fair for job seekers

TEXARKANA, Texas (KSLA) – Around 60 employers from various industries were out recruiting on Wednesday, July 18 at the second annual Community Career Fair at Texarkana College.

College leaders say they decided to have this annual event in the summer so the entire community and not just college students could attend.

Lee Williams, the executive director of student success at Texarkana College, and some of the employers in attendance of the career fair were ready to hire job seekers on the spot.

“It is so important for our community because it allows our community to sustain our workforce, and it also allows our community to pick local people who are in our community. So we really want to be a part of that here at TC, and we want to be able to put more into our workforce,” Williams said.

The event featured workshops on resume writing, interview skills, and networking, which according to officials, will help job seekers develop the skills needed to succeed in their job search.
