Texas A&M retail expert shares summertime shopping deals
BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – If you’re looking to make technology or home upgrades, a local expert says the summer can be a great time to do so.
There are several online and in-store deals to take advantage of. That’s why Texas A&M’s Center for Retailing Studies director, Thomas McMillan, joined BVTM Monday to share what you might expect.
Amazon Prime days start Tuesday, and McMillan said it’s the second-best time to shop compared to Black Friday.
“Amazon’s gonna have about five million items go on sale during this time across 35 different categories, so expect to see a lot of great deals,” McMillan shared.
As the Prime days kick off, McMillan announced that the retailer will have 50% off on Amazon devices. Some of those items include:
Shoppers can also expect up to 50% savings on big brand home items and college essentials including Keurig, Dyson, Shark, and Bissell.
For those preparing for college, Amazon-branded items including Amazon Basics and Amazon Essentials will be up to 40% off.
The retail expert also suggested looking into deals from other online players including TikTok Shop, Shein, and Temu.
“Everyone is going to try to compete against Amazon,” warned McMillan.
Other brick-and-mortar retailers, which also have websites, will battle it out with Amazon as well.
For example, Kohl’s is offering an extra 30% off to store cardholders. Old Navy is offering 50% off everything; that deal will end Thursday.
Target is offering up to 40% off tablets and monitors. The store also has deals on home items including Keurig coffee makers, air fryers, back-to-school supplies, and indoor-outdoor furniture.
In addition, Best Buy has a Black Friday in July sale, which will end Wednesday. The store is offering deals on TVs, laptops, gaming systems, and more. Lowes is offering up to 70% off of major appliances and $100 off of select laundry pairs. Home Depot is offering up to 35% off of college essentials and up to 50% off of vanities and faucets.
“Amazon Prime days has, like, made a big wave in the market, and so now other retailers have to be ready for it,” McMillan added.
Once again, Amazon Prime days run this Tuesday and Wednesday.
