Texas Man Killed By Police After Driving Through Shopping Mall
53-year-old John Darrel Shultz was killed by police yesterday after engaging in a high-speed chase that ended with him driving directly through the glass doors of JCPenny’s in Killeen, Texas, injuring multiple shoppers.

Reports say the chase began at approximately 5 pm on Sunday after a 911 call about a possible drunk driver. Shultz sped away from the police for 19 miles before driving through the local shopping mall during one of the year’s busiest shopping days.

According to CNN, Shultz drove several hundred yards through the store, striking shoppers aged 6 to 75. 4 people were taken to the hospital by ambulance and a 5th person drove themselves to the hospital.

NBC News shared a video of the moment the truck smashed through the glass doors of JCPenny’s:
One witness told CNN, “There were people lying on the floor with glass everywhere.” Another said the saw little girl, shaking and bleeding, be carried away by officers.
Killeen, Texas is the 19th-most populous city in Texas with roughly 153,095 residents, and is located approximately 70 miles north of Austin.
