Thanksgiving Travel: How weather will affect flights, roads in and out of Arizona
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — There is mostly good news in terms of weather if you are traveling in or out of Arizona for Thanksgiving.
Locally, there will be a few rain or snow showers in the northern and northeastern mountains of Arizona on Wednesday. While some slick roads and a few inches of snow are possible above 7,000 feet, this will not be a big storm and should not cause widespread travel issues.
Most major national airports look good weather-wise on Wednesday, although some snow in Denver may cause some delays. While the mountains and other parts of Colorado will receive heavy snow, this will not be a major storm for Denver.
On Thursday, a storm will move into the northeast, with snow to the north and rain to the south.
Flights into cities like New York City may be delayed because of rain. In addition, people heading to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade will need to bring rain gear!
One of the biggest travel days of the year is the Sunday after Thanksgiving—so what about Sunday travel?
It looks like there will be much to be thankful about on Sunday as most of the major airports should be storm-free.
While light rain or snow showers are possible in Arizona’s high country on Sunday, most roads should be dry for post-Thanksgiving Sunday travel.
