Thanksgiving week and travel gives bump in business to Rock Springs Cafe
BLACK CANYON CITY, AZ (AZFamily) — Thanksgiving week is one of the busiest travel weeks of the year, and it also proved to be one of the busiest weeks for Rock Springs Cafe in Black Canyon City.
“Plan ahead. A lot of planning ahead. A lot of employees working extra,” said Rock Springs Cafe General Manager Roger Vore.
As people headed home after the holiday weekend, many pulled into Rock Springs Cafe, known for its homemade pies.
“We usually switch halfway somewhere around here, splitting up the ride. So we stopped here, and I’m hungry, so I said we should just get some pie,” said one woman driving from Phoenix to Flagstaff.
Vore says during Thanksgiving week, Rock Springs Cafe sold over 600% more pies than they do during an average week. That’s because you are getting both holiday traffic and normal traffic from your average pie buyers.
“On a holiday, you’re getting traffic and people that want to buy pies too so we get extra traffic,” he explained.
