The 2024-25 Pitt Basketball Coaching Staff

Published

on

Jeff Capel
Head Coach

Capel is entering year seven at the helm. The 2022-23 ACC Coach of the Year has been at Pitt longer than he was ever at Oklahoma or VCU as head coach, and the Panthers’ program continues to rise under his leadership. Despite the team missing last year’s NCAA Tournament, the Panthers once again finished with a .667 winning percentage and, last season, earned 4th place in the ACC.

Capel has kept his staff pretty consistent throughout his time in Oakland, as his three top assistants have been with him the entire way. He brought in Kyle Cieplicki from Vermont in the summer of 2021 around the same time that he added former Pitt player Gilbert Brown to the staff as well. Billy Hubly joined the staff in the summer of 2023 after spending five years with South Florida. Brian Regan has been at Pitt the longest out of anyone on staff, and is one of the most well-respected Director’s of Basketball Operations in college hoops.
