ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) School may be out, but a few kids learned valuable life lessons on Saturday, June 22, through entrepreneurship and their own creativity.

The Alexandria Mall had a few more shopping options as they hosted the “Kid’s Business Market.”

The “Kid’s Business Market” teaches young people between the ages of 6-15 about the power of entrepreneurship, innovation and leadership through hands-on learning.

Each kid rose to the challenge of deciding what to sell, creating a booth, talking to customers and handling money.

“I have always been really creative and I have always liked to do arts and crafts and stuff like that,” said eleven-year-old Taylor Harris. “Whenever I saw these, I thought these look really cool to make. I started making them and it turned into this.”

From food to jewelry and even some art, each kid learned and earned in a competitive environment. Harris said she hopes to continue building her brand.

“I would like to start selling online maybe,” added Harris. “I think that would be good because I have done this for two years in a row and it’s been very fun. I think that doing it more than once a year would be fun, too.”
