The Best Fashion Moments of 2024

A wedding always calls upon joyous celebration and the wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant was no exception to this. However, when you are the son to the richest man in Asia, your nuptials are bound to receive more notoriety than most. The six-day wedding celebration hosted over 2,000 guests from all over the world, some of which included high-profile celebrities such as Mark Zuckerberg, Kim Kardashian, Priyanka Chopra, John Cena, Nicky Hilton-Rothschild and a star-studded performance by Justin Bieber.

On the evening of October 17th, Giorgio Armani brought his grand elegance to the Big Apple by showcasing his Spring 2025 collection in New York City’s Park Avenue Armory. Fittingly titled “In Viaggio” —which one could loosely translate to traveling or being en route, the show is considered the first in which the brand has shown outside of Milan and outside of the traditional fashion week calendar.

After a 6-year hiatus, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show made a highly awaited return to the small screen this year. With former VS angel Tyra Banks at the helm of all the publicity, the runway show brought back some of our favorite super legends, such as Kate Moss, Carla Bruni, Irina Shayk, whilst also introducing us to the industry’s new vanguards, such as Alex Consani and Devyn Garcia, as they all converged together under one spotlight.

To further solidify the end of Paris Fashion Week (and of Fashion Month), Coperni partnered with Disney to throw a one-of-a-kind fashion show on the grounds of Disneyland Paris. A collection largely inspired by the princesses we grew up reading in fairytales, one simply had to be there to experience the magic of it all!

Having previously walked for the Prada Fall 2012 menswear show, Mrs. Prada recruited the help of the world’s favorite villain, Willem Dafoe, once more to close out the Miu Miu Spring 2025 show. The decision to feature the esteemed actor on the runway proved to be a rather smart choice on Prada’s behalf, as Dafoe has previously worn the Italian label multiple times on red carpets and has been deemed the ultimate symbol of effortless confidence as of late, cementing his status as a style icon.

For his Spring 2025 show, American designer Ralph Lauren brought guests out to a 19-acre horse farm in Bridgehampton, a near three-hour commute from the city, to view his latest collection. After bearing witness to such a sight, we cannot possibly imagine a more proper setting for old-money glamour than the Hamptons.

With a career spanning over 4 decades, Naomi Campbell is synonymous to fashion. Her megawatt fame as a supermodel while appealing as a muse— and her influence throughout the industry —ultimately garnered an exhibition dedicated solely to her and her 40-year career. Entitled “Naomi: In Fashion” at The V&A South Kensington museum in London, it is the first exhibition that the institution has ever granted to any model.

In 2024, there were many notable losses of designers whose legacies will continue to have influence. At the start of this year, we lost the great Claude Montana. Montana, who had previously held the role of head couturier at the House of Lanvin, became famous for his exaggerated silhouettes and padded shoulders in the 1980s – details that would to proceed to define the fashion of the era. Later this year in April, the notable designer Roberto Cavalli also passed away from health-related complications. His bold and effervescent designs were worn and beloved by some of the world’s biggest pop stars, including Aaliyah, Beyonce and J. Lo.

Since the closure of his namesake label back in 2019, Zac Posen has leapt back onto the fashion scene with his most recent appointment as Creative Director of GAP, Inc. In an effort to revitalize the specialty retailer’s presence in the market, Posen unveiled a custom gown he designed for Oscar award-winning actress, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, back in May. The dress, made entirely out of denim, proved to be an immediate success in paving the way for a brand- new era at GAP: the golden era of Zac Posen.

Following the success of Zendaya carefully executing red carpet method dressing, it was only a matter of time before others took the approach to astonishing new heights! In preparation to the release of their film Wicked, both Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo looked to none other than their on-screen characters for fashion inspo. With Erivo being styled by Jason Bolden and Grande being styled by Mimi Cuttrell respectively, they never once fell out of character in complimentary looks that allowed them to channel their inner-Elphaba and Glinda while on tour.

Beyonce has always been a catalyst for trends since the start of her career. Following the release of “Cowboy Carter” back in March, it not much of a surprise that her crossover to country music has not only spurred a cultural shift, but has also lead to a massive demand for Western-inspired wear. From cowboy boots to bolo ties, we have seen how this trend has prevailed throughout the past year and we will likely continue to see it rise well into 2025.

In case you were all living under a rock these past few months, “Brat Girl Summer” was all the rage this year thanks to Charli XCX. Her sixth studio album titled “Brat” unleashed a worldwide phenomena that spanned beyond music, further propelling it into a category of its own. In reference to the album cover, acid green became the color of the summer and the entire fashion industry took note. We even followed suit and wrote a story on how anyone could incorporate the viral shade into their wardrobe, the T&C way.

Nearly replicating the infamous 1966 black and white ball that Truman Capote once hosted here in New York, the entire cast of FX’s “Feud: Capote Vs. The Swans” showed up in their best black and white attire to the series’ premiere at the MOMA on January 24th.

It’s needless to say that 2024 was a great year for Danielle Goldberg—and her impressive roster of clients. The New York-based stylist has been credited for dressing Hollywood’s brightest and transforming them into fashion It-Girls of the moment. Her clientele includes Laura Harrier, Greta Lee, Saoirse Ronan, and Ayo Edebiri, who wore this stunning Bottega Veneta gown to the Emmys this year.

On October 1st, Chanel returned to present their Spring 2025 show at The Grand Palais for the first time in four years. It was also the first show since the departure of Virginie Viard as creative director of the house and so this certainly beckoned for a rather grand homecoming. As the crescendo for the runway show, actress Riley Keough performed a rendition of “When Doves Cry” as she perched atop a swing located inside a colossal-sized birdcage—a striking reference to the one used in the 1991 Coco Chanel commercial starring Vanessa Paradis.

We’d argue that pregnancy has never been a pre-requisite for frump, but the the standards surrounding maternity wear have been redefined as of late and Jennifer Lawrence is amongst the slew of moms-to-be who are setting the bar extra high. For the 2024 Governors Awards, Lawrence donned a dark brown gown from Bottega Veneta’s Pre-Fall 2025 collection, a masterclass in dressing a bump.
