Black Friday shoppers, we’ve nearly reached the end of the (checkout) line. The deal-filled shopping holiday typically kicked off the day after Thanksgiving, leaving everyone in anticipation of epic discounts until the end of November. But no, not 2024. Ever the year to buck any and all traditions, 2024 instead brought us a dizzying month of doorbusters: There were deals not just on TVs and video game consoles, but also everything from Lego Advent calendars and celebrity-founded brands to high-tech beauty devices and space-ready suitcases.
Case in point: Target was among the first retailers to kick off the holiday shopping season with its early Black Friday sale on Nov. 7, followed by Amazon’s markdown madness on Nov. 21. As Cyber Monday sales come to a close (yes, some are still trailing), Adobe Digital Insights reports that Dec. 2 is expected to be the spendiest shopping day of the year with an expected total of $13.2 to $13.5 billion in receipts. (The company will provide a final update on Dec. 3 at 8:30 a.m. ET.)
All of this is to say that there’s just one final day in the Black Friday trifecta: Giving Tuesday, yet another designated date adopted by consumerism.
Founded in 2012 in New York City, the celebration was created as “a day that encourages people to do good,” according to the movement’s creators. The organization’s philosophy of “radical generosity” has earned the support of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, AWS Nonprofits, Google.org, National Philanthropic Trust and many others.
As dedicated shopping editors, it’s our duty to share the best Giving Tuesday sales that allow your bucks to earn the most brownie points. Here, you won’t find a list of dozens upon dozens of discounts on the Dyson Airwrap, espresso machines and Wicked merch (all among 2024’s top categories, according to Adobe), though you’ll find plenty of that here. Instead, we’ve carefully selected philanthropic options that check off more than one box, say, a cozy sweater that helps you raise awareness for cancer screenings, or an EVOO restock that also helps you feed those in need around the globe.
Some finds are on sale as part of extended Cyber Monday deals, while others might cost you full price (for a good cause!) For those hoping to end their Black Friday spending spree on a charitable note, see our favorite Giving Tuesday deals below, and learn more about the kindness-driven movement here.
Michael Stars x Karla Welch
Hollywood power stylist Karla Welch is joining forces with L.A.-based basics brand Michael Stars for an exclusive T-shirt to benefit the Period Abundance Foundation, a nonprofit co-founded by Welch to distribute eco-friendly menstrual care and provide health education to communities around the globe.
Grace de Monaco
Through Dec. 3, take 20% off sitewide, including on sunglasses, home fragrances and perfumes with code GIFT20. All purchases benefit the Princess Grace Foundation — a nonprofit supporting emerging artists in theater, dance and film — in memory of Princess Grace of Monaco, also known as Grace Kelly in Hollywood and beyond.
Worldclass
Just-launched brand Worldclass makes sweats, hoodies and tees are equal parts cozy, chic and cheeky — all to help support cancer prevention by raising awareness about colonoscopies. Fun fact: one of the brand’s co-founders previously teamed with clever marketer Ryan Reynolds to share his colonoscopy experience online. It makes sense, then, that the philanthropic label (which notes that “a great ass is a terrible thing to waste”) was founded by marketing industry veteran Brooks Bell and fashion stylist Sarah Beran, who created the brand after many years in remission from early-onset colorectal in their 30s. The not-for-profit company donates all of its proceeds to fund cancer detection procedures and officially debuts on Giving Tuesday today.
On Giving Tuesday (Dec. 3), gourmet cooking essentials brand Brightland will donate one chef-created meal through World Central Kitchen for every bottle of olive oil, vinegar or honey sold.
Thrive Causemetics
On Giving Tuesday, save 20% percent sitewide (including on our favorite mascara) and get free shipping plus a free Pout Hero liquid lip balm with orders over $150.
Dagne Dover
The stylish travel accessories brand regularly donates to a rotating lineup of charities — and shoppers can do good with their dollars on Giving Tuesday while saving 30 percent off all kits and rolling luggage. For Giving Tuesday 2024, Dagne Dover is supporting Futures Without Violence, Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation, Feeding America and the Center for Reproductive Rights.
Vosges Haut-Chocolat
Something sweet for the mental health advocates: Luxury confectioners Vosges will donate $1 from every Giving Tuesday purchase to Bring Change to Mind, a nonprofit with a mission to end stigma and discrimination surrounding mental illness.
Gabriel & Co.
Fine jewelry label Gabriel & Co. created a sterling silver pendant necklace to support a cause selected by Jewelers for Children (JFC) as part of the company’s Gabriel Love Foundation Stronger Together initiative. For Giving Tuesday 2024, JFC chose to donate all proceeds of the necklace to the National CASA/GAL Association, which supports court-appointed volunteer advocacy for children and youth who have been abused or neglected.
Future Society
On Giving Tuesday, fragrance label Future Society is donating 20% percent of proceeds from its Floating Forest eau de parfum to the Borneo Project, a nonprofit dedicated to defending Sarawak rainforests and human rights in Malaysia. The “lush, cooling and serene” scent boasts notes of black pepper, bergamot, freesia, cedarwood, papyrus and more, pays homage to the extinct Shorea cuspidata, a tree endemic to Borneo that “last bloomed in 1998,” notes the brand.
MZ Wallace
Known for its quilted carryall, the fashion-meets-function accessories brand (previously seen on everyone from Hilary Clinton and Jane Fonda to Lupita Nyong’o and Anne Hathaway) is donating 10 percent of all full-priced sales to The Conservation Fund. The Giving Tuesday initiative comes just time for you to shop the recently launched (and very giftable) Packable Market Tote made from 100 percent recycled materials.
Square Baby
Parenting in the social media age feels like anything but gentle (at least for the parents.) Square Baby‘s convenient food delivery service makes it a cinch to feed little ones fresh, organic meals that introduce potential allergens into their diets early. If you’ve been wanting to simplify meal time for your new-to-solids bébé, sign up for a subscription — available in deliveries every two, three or four weeks — on Giving Tuesday (Dec. 3) and Square Baby will donate two meals to No Kid Hungry for every one purchased.
Revo
The NASA-born eyewear company behind Fallout star Walton Goggins’ new sunglasses brand is teaming with the Melanoma Research Foundation to support the organization’s efforts. Revo is donating a portion of proceeds fro all online and in-store purchases through the end of the year.
Donald Pliner
Give someone in need shoes when you buy a pair from Donald Pliner, which is teaming with Soles4Souls’ 4EveryKid program. Every purchase from the shoe company helps to provide new athletic footwear to children in the U.S. experiencing homelessness.
