The best Kindle deals available for Amazon Prime Day 2024

It’s no secret that Amazon sells some of the most popular e-readers on the market. Every Kindle I’ve ever tested has been snappy and sharp with a decent feature set, making them ideal for those embedded in Amazon’s ecosystem. And now that Prime Day 2024 is here, they’re even more attractive purchases since many are steeply discounted.

To make life easier, we’ve rounded up the best deals on everything from the entry-level Kindle to the note-taking Kindle Scribe. We’ve added deals on the kid-friendly variants and bundles, too, so you don’t need to pore through Amazon looking for them. And remember: if you want to save money on other devices, make sure to also check out our larger guide to the best Amazon Prime Day deals you can currently get.

The best Kindle (2022) deals

Amazon’s new entry-level Kindle is essentially the budget-friendly six-inch version of the Kindle Paperwhite. It lacks waterproofing but otherwise is similar, with the same sharp display and USB-C support. Read our review.

The six-inch entry-level Kindle offers a lot of value for its price, which is why it’s my favorite budget-friendly e-reader on the market. It’s a significant improvement over its 2019 predecessor, with features like a sharp 300ppi display and snappy performance that’s hard to find on e-readers in this price range. Along with good battery life, the Kindle also sports USB-C for relatively fast charging and 16GB of storage so you can store as many ebooks as you’d like.

Right now, you can buy the ad-supported Kindle with three months of Kindle Unlimited included for $84.99 ($15 off) from Amazon, which is $10 shy of its all-time low price. You can also buy it with ads, a power adapter, and a fabric cover starting at $108.97 ($41 off).

Amazon’s latest Kindle isn’t waterproof and lacks adjustable color temperature, but it’s still easy to recommend given its high-res display and large storage capacity. The Essentials Bundle on offer here also comes with a power adapter and one of four fabric covers.

If you want to buy an e-reader for a child under the age of 12, the Kindle Kids might be the better option. It’s identical to the standard Kindle, but it’s free of ads and comes with optional parental controls. It also includes one year of Amazon Kids Plus, which grants children access to thousands of kid-friendly games, videos, and books, along with a case and a two-year extended replacement guarantee.

Right now, Amazon is selling the Kindle Kids for $99.99 ($20 off), which is also $20 shy of its all-time low price of $79.99.

Amazon’s latest Kindle Kids is identical to the standard Kindle — meaning it packs a 300ppi display and support for USB-C charging — but comes with a case, an extended two-year warranty, and a year of Amazon Kids Plus.

The best Kindle Paperwhite (2021) deals

Amazon’s latest Kindle Paperwhite has a 6.8-inch E Ink display with adjustable color temperature for nighttime reading. It also boasts a faster processor, additional battery life, IPX8 waterproofing, and a USB-C port. Read our review.

From a sharp display to USB-C, the 6.8-inch Kindle Paperwhite offers all the features that make the Kindle great and then some. It’s my favorite Amazon e-reader for that reason, with extras like IPX8 waterproofing, an adjustable warm white front light, and battery life that can last months making it an overall great option. Right now, you can buy the Kindle Paperwhite with 16GB of storage and ads for $134.99, which is a far cry from its $99.99 all-time low price but still one of its better prices to date in recent months. Amazon is also bundling the 16GB Paperwhite with a power adapter and your choice of a fabric cover for $164.97 ($30 off), a leather cover for $171.97 ($30 off), or the 8GB model with a “cork” cover for $189.97 ($20 off).

Amazon is also discounting the ad-free Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition. The e-reader is identical to the Paperwhite but adds Qi wireless charging, a sensor that automatically adjusts the backlight when needed, and 32GB of storage. It is on sale for $179.99 ($10 off), which is a far cry form its $129.99 all-time low price but again one of the few discounts we’ve seen in recent months.

The premium Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition offers the same design and performance as the standard model but with more storage, an automatic light sensor, and support for Qi wireless charging.

Last but not least, Amazon is discounting the kid-friendly version of the Kindle Paperwhite. The Kindle Paperwhite Kids is identical to the Kindle Paperwhite but, like the Kindle Kids, is free of ads and comes with a kid-friendly cover, a two-year extended replacement guarantee, optional parental controls, and a year of Amazon Kids Plus. You can buy it on sale for $149.99. While $30 shy of its best price yet, the deal is decent given we haven’t seen the model go on sale as frequently as we once did this year.

Amazon’s kid-friendly Paperwhite is the same as the standard Paperwhite, but it’s ad-free and comes with the added benefits of a two-year hardware protection plan, one year of Amazon Kids Plus, and a choice of three kid-friendly covers.

The best Kindle Scribe deals

The Kindle Scribe is Amazon’s largest e-reader to date, with a crisp 10.2-inch display, terrific battery life, and a stylus for note-taking. Read our review.

If you’re somebody who likes to take notes while reading, the ad-free Kindle Scribe could be worth a look. With its sharp 10.2-inch display, it’s the largest in the Kindle lineup and the only one that comes with a stylus you can use to annotate books or take notes in its integrated virtual notebooks.

Truthfully, it’s not my favorite e-reader for taking notes — that honor goes to the more capable Kobo Elipsa 2E, Still, the Scribe has come a long way since its launch since Amazon regularly releases software updates. In the past year, for example, Amazon’s added the ability to convert handwriting into typed text (to a limited extent), directly write on the pages of select Kindle titles, and expanded the selection of pen styles, making the e-reader a much more attractive purchase.

Amazon’s base Kindle Scribe Essentials Bundle comes with a 16GB Kindle Scribe, a Basic or Premium Pen, a power adapter, and a leather folio cover in the color of your choice.

The Kindle Scribe with 16GB of storage normally starts at $339.99, but right now, you can buy it with three months of Kindle Unlimited from Amazon for $234.99. That is a new all-time low price on the note-taking e-reader. Amazon’s also discounting various bundles, offering the 16GB Kindle Scribe with a leather cover and a power adapter for $281.97 ($168 off). You can also buy a bundle that includes the Premium Pen (which offers a built-in eraser and shortcut button), a leather cover, and a power adapter starting at $419.97 ($60 off).
