Oura’s celebrity-loved smart ring — the device that helps optimize well-being by tracking and scoring everything from sleep and fitness activity to daily readiness levels — is getting a few upgrades.
The Oura Ring 4 now comes in a sleek new design, six finishes (including a new matte black one), a slew of new features, a longer-lasting battery and an upgraded iOS and Android app. The fourth-gen wearable is available for pre-order today starting at $349, with shipping beginning Oct. 15.
The Oura Ring 4 will include automatic activity detection for heart rates and movements during workouts (no need to activate tracking on an app), daytime stress charts to help wearers understand how their daily activity affects stress levels and fertility insights for those looking for details “on chances of pregnancy during different stages of the menstrual cycle.” That’s in addition to existing features — securely tracked via 20 biometrics — such as Sleep Scores, daily Readiness levels, daytime stress, daily and fitness activity, heart health and women’s health.
New and current Oura members will also see a redesigned iOs and Android app with “a more streamlined, at-a-glance view into their short- and long-term health.” The new Today, Vitals and My Health tabs will offer daily health details with real-time updates, detailed views of health metrics and scores, and a more comprehensive look at Cardiovascular Age, Stress Resilience and other long-term insights. The Oura subscription is $5.99 per month or $69.99 per year via the company’s website, and the first month is free for new members.
The Oura Ring 4 will come in silver, black, brushed silver, stealth (a glossy tungsten carbide PVD coating), gold and rose gold and comes in sizes 4 to 15. The device is also eligible for HSA/FSA programs, so you can use your healthcare expenses on your ring and Oura membership) upgrade before the Dec. 31 spending deadline. (Learn more here.)
Jennifer Aniston, Miranda Kerr, Sofia Richie Grainge, Prince Harry, Olympic swimmer Katie Ledecky and NBA All-Star Chris Paul are among the stars who’ve been spotted wearing the device, and even wellness-minded star Kate Hudson wishes she invented it.
Model-turned-Kora Organics founder Miranda Kerr previously told THR, “I love my Oura ring because it tracks your sleep. It’s so good to make sure I’ve done my steps [for the day]. It makes you get to bed earlier; it’s a good motivator.”
Gwyneth Paltrow sang the praises of the Oura Ring at her 2021 Goop Health event, where she was joined by UC Berkeley neuroscience and psychology professor and Oura company adviser Matthew Walker (who has his own MasterClass course devoted to the science of sleep). And Olympic medalists including skiier Lindsey Vonn, surfers Kai Lenny and Kanoa Igarashi and others are among the pro athletes who use Oura’s device.
The Oura Ring 4 is now available for pre-order for delivery on or after Oct. 15 at Oura, Amazon, Target, Best Buy and other retailers. In the meantime, the Oura Ring Gen3 is on sale starting at $299 (reg. $349 and up).
