The Golden Globes Finally Fixed a Major Awards Show Problem—But They Created Another One

The 40-year-old comedian made history last night as the first woman to ever host the Golden Globes on her own. And if the folks behind the Globes have any sense, they’ll be bringing her back again next year.

Each award season, the same problem arises: how to find a host that’s actually funny, actually good, actually engaging, actually charismatic and actually makes me happy when they step on stage. The two-word solution to this major, age-old problem? Nikki Glaser.

You guys, she was such a great host. She made me laugh without being mean. She was edgy without making me squirm. She spearheaded bits that had me cackling (instead of checking my watch to see how many minutes were wasted on non-award content). Honestly, it’s been since the days of Tina and Amy co-hosting that I fully loved a host so much.
