‘The Last of Us’ season 2 first footage reveals Catherine O’Hara’s character, sees first look at Jeffrey Wright
The first season of The Last of Us was a big, fat, puss-spewing hit, giving HBO numbers it hadn’t seen since the heyday of Game of Thrones and scoring 19 Emmy nominations, winning eight.
In a first footage video featuring all their new and returning series, Max included some clips of the second season of the acclaimed series based on the video game franchise. Whereas season one was adapted from 2013’s The Last of Us, season two will tackle the events of 2020’s The Last of Us – Part II.

We see the first glimpse of Catherine O’Hara‘s character, details of which are still under wraps. But she’s serving menacing benevolence … so it’s gonna be good. It should be noted, however, that O’Hara might not be playing a character from the video games, but rather a newly created character.
“Did you hurt her,” O’Hara asks Pedro Pascal‘s Joel, most likely referring to Bella Ramsey‘s Ellie. “What did you do?”
We then get an action-packed montage of not only what Joel does, but what goes down in the second season.
In the middle of it all, Oscar-nominee and all-around national treasure Jeffrey Wright reprises his role from Part II: Isaac, “the quietly powerful leader of a large militia group who sought liberty but instead has become mired in an endless war against a surprisingly resourceful enemy.”
As for the answer to O’Hara’s question, Joel says, with a tear running down his cheek, “I saved her.”
Ugh, Pedro Pascal crying, Catherine O’Hara all aglow, and Jeffrey Wright just showing up. Season two can’t come soon enough. Of course, we don’t have a premiere date yet so we just gotta get through this year first … good luck with that.
