The Outlaw Boots from Everlane Are the Answer to Last Season’s Cowboy Core Craze—Here’s My Honest Review

Honestly, I didn’t find these to be super comfortable straight out of the box. Like a true cowboy boot, these have a hard sole and tapered, pointed toe that limit the breathing room your feet get in the toe box. The first time I wore them, I instantly knew there would be a break-in period. Mind you, I was wearing thin socks, but I felt the soreness and the irritation begin on the tops of my toes and back of my heels. Would a thicker sock with extra cushion have helped? Perhaps, but luckily, once that initial wear was complete, I haven’t had a problem with comfort. In fact, I just wore the boots to a dinner in South Kensington the other day and didn’t think about my feet once, besides the occasional, “These boots make my outfit looks so cute.”

As someone who adores a bit of a heel, I find the 2.75-inch heel beyond walkable, especially thanks to the sturdy block heel. They don’t leave the arches of my feet aching or the balls of my feet sore the next day like many high-heeled boots do, and that’s definitely due to the modest height. I’m also a sucker for a boots and pant combo in the colder months, so I’ve had a lot of fun taking advantage of the shorter, 6-inch shaft height. (The only times when this didn’t work was with my straight-leg jeans, as the silhouette tapered too much to fit over the wide boot.)
