The Pilot Club of Odessa hosts “Food, Fashion, and All That Jazz” service and style show
ODESSA, Texas (KOSA) – In honor of Administrative Professional’s Day yesterday, April 24th, The Pilot Club of Odessa took center stage to celebrate in style. The club hosted “Food, Fashion, and All That Jazz,” a style and fashion show luncheon held at the Marriott in downtown Odessa.
I had the honor of emceeing the event and introducing all of the beautiful models who are a part of Pilot International highlighting their accomplishments and involvement in and around the Odessa community.
Pilot International, the umbrella organization of the Pilot Club of Odessa, operates through four levels: clubs, districts, international, and executive. Each club, while sharing a common mission, tailors its activities to meet the specific needs of its local community.
“The focus of Pilot is traumatic brain injuries,” explains Ann Volker, a dedicated member of the Pilot Club of Odessa, emphasizing the club’s commitment to addressing critical community needs.
The Pilot Club of Odessa, a 45-year-old service organization, focuses its efforts on addressing traumatic brain injuries, supporting caregivers, and enhancing the well-being of its community. Sheryl Jones, President of the Pilot Club of Odessa, underscores the club’s dedication to raising funds for various charities in Ector County.
“To raise money for our different charities that we donate to in Ector County every year. We have donated to Honor Flight, disabled Veterans, and the Sheriff’s office. We have several charities we donate to.”
As the Pilots say, “We don’t fly planes. We save brains.” This mantra underscores the club’s primary mission of supporting brain health and wellness initiatives.
The “Food, Fashion, and All That Jazz” event wasn’t just about showcasing the latest trends; it was a fundraiser aimed at supporting the Pilot Club of Odessa’s projects within the community. A silent auction and raffle were held with all proceeds contributing to the club’s noble causes.
“The main event is, of course, the style show, so that our audience can see what’s the latest in fashion from Kirby’s Kloset, and it’s just a fun time to honor our professionals.”
The Pilot Club’s impact extends beyond the runway. Through the Anchor Club, its high school division, the organization nurtures the spirit of service among younger generations. Anchor Club members from New Tech Odessa actively engage in service projects both within their school and throughout the wider Odessa community.
“I think it’s great that we can give back to the community and provide a lot of services to individuals that need it.”
For those interested in supporting the Pilot Club of Odessa’s upcoming events, mark your calendars for their car show on Saturday, May 4th, at Crossroads Church in Odessa.
More information about that event will be on their Facebook here.
