The ultimate Sioux Falls game-day guide of places to eat and drink during football season

We highlight a few local sports bars to visit on the weekends for game-day specials

Football is back, baby.

Don’t have tickets to watch your favorite team play in person this season? Our Sioux Falls local sports bar scene takes care of us without the long concession lines (or a $20 hot dog).

It’s better this way, with 100s of TVs, all of the sports networks you need to see, and game-day specials for fans and families at many locally owned sports bars.

Enjoy craft beers, burger specials, game-day trivia, camaraderie among fellow fans, and weekend specials.

Here are a few restaurants we recommend watching a football game on Saturdays and Sundays.

Shenanigans Sports Bar & Grill, 1903 S. Ellis Road, Sioux Falls

One of the longest running sports bars in town is a family-friendly restaurant with nearly 40 big-screen TVs and all sports networks for college and NFL games. Pair your cheese curds with sliders or wings for a game-day meal.

Alibi Bar & Grill, 7400 E. Oak Grove Trail, Sioux Falls

The Alibi’s new location is swanky and sprawled out, and offers an updated menu featuring burgers, pizzas, and wings. Happy hour specials run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on game days, and customers will have access to all games.

One of the restaurant’s sister locations is Woody’s Pub & Grill, 900 S. Marion Road in Sioux Falls. Try Woody’s famous wings or a prime rib dip.

Blue Rock Bar & Grill, 4021 Bobhalla Drive, Sioux Falls

The restaurant located within the Sanford Sports Complex has four different dining spaces: The Sports Bar, family-friendly dining for small groups or large teams; The Tailgate, the pre-game TV room with roll-up garage doors and a patio courtyard; The Upper Deck, a rooftop patio; and The Lodge, the cozy, quieter dining space. Try the beef chislic or choose one of the smash burgers.

Tip: Rub the seven-foot signature blue rock, the restaurant’s namesake, outside the building for good luck.

Tinner’s Public House, 448 W.69th St., Sioux Falls

Tinner’s is already well-known for its great breakfast menu on the weekends and opens as early as 9 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays to prep for bottomless mimosas and Bloody Marys until 1 p.m. The restaurant also brings down two projectors for larger screens, featuring the NFL Sunday Ticket and games on Peacock, among other networks.

If You Go: Check out Augustana University’s 2024 football schedule.

Great Shots, 2505 W. Benson Road, Sioux Falls

Also located in the Sanford Sports Complex, Great Shots offers specials on buckets of beer and hosts fantasy football draft parties. Great Shots offers a full-service restaurant and bar alongside the 60 golf bays.

Note: The building will undergo renovations over the next couple months but will still be open for Monday Night Football.

Overtime Sports Bar & Grill, 4529 E. 26th St., Sioux Falls

All local, college and pro football games are aired among 30 TVs at this family-fun and family-friendly local sports hangout on the east side.

Let It Fly Sports Bar, the Bridges at 5001 S. Western Ave., Sioux Falls

Let it Fly is a national chain restaurant that was founded by Sioux Falls native and former NBA basketball player Mike Miller. Try bison smash burgers, sticky ribs, drunken mussels or pork mac and cheese while watching football.

Others:

  1. Crooked Pint Ale House, 2020 S. Marion Road, Sioux Falls
  2. The Barrel House, 4701 E. 54th St., Sioux Falls
  3. Stubbie’s Bar & Grill, 5024 S. Cliff Ave., Sioux Falls
