The Umbrella Academy Crew Teams Up to Save the World One Last Time in Trailer for the Final Season
The world is ending again, and there’s only one family who can save it.
The trailer for the fourth and final season of The Umbrella Academy premiered on Tuesday, July 9, and it’s almost time for the Hargreeves siblings’ final mission.
The final season will see the family band together — along with their father, billionaire industrialist Sir Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore), who was previously believed to be dead — to save the world and Ben (Justin H. Min).
As the trailer begins, Ben gets a call from Viktor (Elliot Page), who warns him: “There’s something happening to you and it’s only gonna get worse. You’re on pace to end the world in about 48 hours.”
“24 actually,” their father corrects.
At the same time, though, it seems like newcomers Drs. Gene (Nick Offerman) and Jean Thibedeau (Megan Mullally) are coming to the same conclusions about Ben. “That tentacle boy is the key to understanding all the timelines,” Gene tells his wife.
This time, though, as Klaus (Robert Sheehan) sarcastically reveals — “So the world’s ending again, huh? God, that’s tragic” — the family must band together to save one of their own.
“We need to fix this,” Number Five (Aidan Gallagher) tells his siblings. “Okay, can anyone of you remember how Ben actually died?”
“Ben died because we failed as a team,” Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman) and Luther (Tom Hopper) say at the same time, before Luther seems to have a lightbulb moment that might just hold the key to fixing it all.
As the trailer concludes, another new face is introduced, Sy Grossman (David Cross), who declares: “I wouldn’t miss what’s coming for the world.”
According to the official synopsis, the final season of the Netflix hit — which is based on the comic book series of the same name — picks up with the Hargreeves siblings “scattered after the climactic showdown at the Hotel Oblivion led to a complete reset of their timeline.”
“Stripped of their powers, each is left to fend for themselves and find a new normal — with wildly varying degrees of success. Yet the trappings of their uncanny new world prove too hard to ignore for very long.”
With their father alive, they’ve got even more on their plate as he’s “stepped out of the shadows and into the public eye, overseeing a powerful and nefarious business empire.” This occurs all while there’s a “mysterious association known as The Keepers hold[ing] clandestine meetings believing the reality they’re living in is a lie and a great reckoning is coming.”
“As these strange new forces conspire around them, the Umbrella Academy must come together one last time — and risk upsetting the shaky peace they’ve all endured so much to secure — to finally set things right.”
