The week in sports – My Southborough

Three ARHS teams lost their Central Mass tourney games last week. One more is about to play in their finals. Plus, the state brackets are about to drop.

Last week, two ARHS 2nd seed teams lost to the top seed school in their Class A CMass Finals.

Girls Volleyball lost their CMass Finals 3-2 to seed Shrewsbury on Thursday. Field Hockey lost on Saturday to top seed Uxbridge, 5-0

On Tuesday, those will be the first sports to learn who they’ll face off against in the upcoming MIAA state tourneys. (If Titans are scheduled to play before next Monday, I’ll post a mid-week update.)

On Thursday, Boys Soccer beat Marlborough 3-1 in the CMass semi-finals.

Tomorrow, the top seed Titans will play 2nd seed Leominster in the Finals. The Gonk boys lost to Leominster 5-2 early in the season, but beat them 5-0 at the start of this month. The Finals are scheduled for 4:30 pm on Tuesday, October 29th at Assabet.

4th seed Girls Soccer fell out at the semi-finals. They lost 2-0 to Westborough. Tomorrow’s consolation game against 2nd seed Nashoba will be their final one of the regular season game. That’s 5:00 pm at Nashoba.

The D1 Soccer brackets will be posted on Friday, and both teams have also made the cut.

Algonquin Football lost to Wachusett 32-27 on Friday. They are now 4-3 for the season and ranked #10 for Division 2. Their last regular season game is scheduled for this Friday, 7:00 pm at Leominster. (Click here for tickets.) For the first time in many years, they are qualified to compete in the state playoffs. Those brackets will be posted on Sunday.
