The Zeitgeist: Music and Fashion’s Leading Ladies Dominate the 2024 Grammy Nominations
The 2024 Grammy nominations are in, and this year’s most influential trendsetters are dominating the list.
On Friday, Gayle King, Jim Gaffigan and a few past Grammy winners announced the nominations for the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, with summer’s biggest style stars—Beyoncé, Charli XCX and Sabrina Carpenter—taking center stage.
Beyoncé, who stars in Levi’s “Reiimagine” campaign and spent most of the year in Western-inspired fashion, leads the 2025 Grammy Awards nominations with 11 in total for “Cowboy Carter,” which debuted at number one in several countries and broke multiple chart and streaming records. With these new nominations, the global superstar becomes the most-nominated artist in Grammy history, surpassing her husband, Jay-Z, with a total of 99 nominations.
Although Beyoncé was snubbed by the Country Music Awards a few months ago, she still secured major country nominations from the Recording Academy, including Best Country Album, Best Country Solo Performance for “16 Carriages,” Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “II Most Wanted” featuring Miley Cyrus and Best Country Song for “Texas Hold ‘Em.”
Beyoncé is one of five artists nominated—alongside Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter—in all three of the Grammys’ top general categories: Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Album of the Year.
Meanwhile, British avant-pop and electronic star Charli XCX, who revived the indie sleaze aesthetic and sparked viral TikTok dances with her sixth studio album “Brat,” received seven Grammy nominations.
For the dance-related categories, Charli XCX, who recently wrapped up her co-headlined “Sweat” tour with Australian heartthrob Troye Sivan, earned three nominations, including Best Dance Pop Recording for “Von Dutch,” Best Dance/Electronic Album for “BRAT” and Best Remixed Recording for “Von Dutch” (A.G. Cook Remix featuring Addison Rae).
She also secured a nomination in two major categories, including Album of the Year and Record of the Year for “360.”
Sabrina Carpenter—the pop princess who helped put platform shoes and coquette trends on the radar of Gen Z consumers—also earned multiple Grammy nominations. These include Record of the Year for “Espresso,” Album of the Year for “Short n’ Sweet,” Song of the Year for “Please Please Please” and Best New Artist.
Chappell Roan, known for her stage costumes, joins Carpenter in the Best New Artist category, along with additional nominations for Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for “Good Luck, Babe!” as well as Best Pop Vocal Album and Album of the Year for “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.”
Other artists who received multiple nominations include Billie Eilish, Shaboozey, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Eminem and Post Malone. Meanwhile, Jelly Roll, Troye Sivan, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars and Chris Stapleton each earned a nomination or two.
