These 11 Travel Jewelry Cases Are Almost as Chic as the Pieces Inside
What is the best way to pack jewelry while traveling?
It’s easy for jewelry to get tangled or lost in your luggage when traveling if it isn’t packed properly. “Use a jewelry case with multiple compartments to separate the pieces,” says Atwal. While it may be tempting to pack plenty of options, she recommends not overloading the case to prevent scratches and damage.
Where is the best place to pack your travel jewelry case while traveling?
Jewelry is personal, valueable, and, in some cases, irreplaceable, so be sure to keep it safe when you’re on the move. “Store it in your carry-on handbag, never luggage, to avoid loss or damage,” says Haugaard. Be sure not to place heavy items on top of your jewelry case and place it in your handbag or carry-on in such a way that it’s safe from impact.
“Try to avoid contact with air, direct light, or humidity, as this can lead to deterioration,” says García-Adán. “Jewelry is greatly affected by external pH, so it’s important to avoid contact with perfumes or other cosmetic products.”
What types of jewelry can you pack in a travel jewelry case?
Well-designed travel jewelry cases can safely store all different types of jewelry, including rings, earrings, bracelets, and necklaces. “Pack rings in the ring slots, earrings in the designated slots with tissue between, necklaces on hooks or in slots to prevent tangling, and bracelets in the individual compartments,” says Atwal. She also recommends laying delicate pieces flat and wrapping them securely with tissue.
Are there any types of jewelry that should not be packed in a travel jewelry case?
Even though travel jewelry cases are designed to keep your jewelry secure and safe from scratches, they aren’t foolproof. “Extremely fragile pieces, such as delicate stones or intricate designs that are prone to breaking should ideally not be packed in a travel jewelry case,” says Atwal.
If you want to travel with high value or delicate items, opt to wear them on travel days instead of packing them. If you have larger statement pieces that don’t fit in your travel jewelry case, pack it in its original box. “Most importantly, make sure all of your pieces are insured,” says Atwal.
