These 50 business locations are closing in Pa.

Several businesses have announced location closings recently in Pennsylvania, including numerous banks, restaurants and retailers.

The list below includes 50 locations in 39 municipalities in 27 counties that have closed or will close soon.

This list is published on PennLive several times a year. PennLive’s most recent list of business closings was published on Aug. 27.

Big Lots is closing its store at 2820 Gracy Center Way.

The bank plans to close its branch at Carnegie Mellon University, 5000 Forbes Ave., Lower Level, according to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.

Butler County

Highway Equipment Company Inc.

The facility at 22035 Perry Highway will close and 67 people will be laid off. The layoffs began on Sept. 23. All of the company’s operations, including the affiliate companies Highway Equipment Company of Ohio Inc., Highway Equipment Company of New Jersey Inc., and Highway Equipment Mid-Atlantic Inc., are potentially going to close because the operations lack sufficient funding, the company said.

Friendly’s has closed its restaurant at 3125 Market St. The restaurant has been in business for nearly four decades.

“It was a blast while it lasted and we will miss you all very much,” a sign posted on the restaurant said.

The shop at 321 Bridge St. announced on Facebook that the business is being sold. It was founded in 2017. The shop closed in August.

“Although we can’t get into specifics at this time, we can tell you that the plan is for Hanna’s to continue as an ice cream parlor, which is great news for the New Cumberland community!” the shop said on Facebook.

Schmidt’s Sausage Shop

Schmidt’s Sausage Shop closed its location at The Fresh Market at the Hershey Towne Square.

“After two years, we have decided to move on from The Fresh Market at the Hershey Towne Square,” the shop said on Facebook. “It was a great experience for us and we made a lot of friends along the way! We would like to thank everyone who supported us at the market, especially our customers. We hope to see you at our shop on Eisenhower Boulevard!”

Londonderry Township

Online retailer to open 1.1M square-foot warehouse and fulfillment center in central Pa.

BooHoo, an online retailer, is closing its 1.1 million-square-foot distribution center at 2771 N. Market St. The facility will close on Nov. 10. Boohoo announced it would cease supplying U.S. customers from its distribution center in Pennsylvania and will now fulfill all orders in the United States from its distribution center in the United Kingdom.

The restaurant at 5948 Linglestown Road has closed. It opened in October 2023.

“This decision has been bittersweet and we will deeply miss our Linglestown location. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts to each one of you who supported us during this chapter of our journey,” The restaurant said on its Facebook page.

The cabinetmaker will close the facility at 12393 William Penn Highway and 310 people will be laid off. Layoffs are expected to start in December. The 310 layoffs are in addition to 110 people who were already laid off.

Lancaster County

Harry’s Furniture Center

The store at 16 Graybill Road is closing after 60 years in business. The store sells living room, dining room and bedroom furniture as well as mattresses and other items. A “going out of business sale” has begun.

“We thank everyone who has given us their well wishes,” the retailer said in a message on its Facebook page. “Our building has been sold. So stop in soon.”

The Mediterranean restaurant at 35 Main St. will close on Nov. 2.

The company is ceasing operations at 120 W. Pumping Station Road and 121 people will be laid off on Oct. 29 including 52 box truck delivery drivers, 21 van delivery drivers and 48 delivery helpers. The company provides delivery services for Amazon in multiple states, according to its website.

Stuffed Puffs

The manufacturing plant at 3910 Stuffed Puffs Place will close and 106 people will be laid off. The first layoffs are expected to take place on Oct. 26. Stuffed Puffs makes marshmallow products filled with milk chocolate and other ingredients.
