These five Jersey Strong gym locations are now Crunch Fitness
Crunch Fitness strengthened its presence at the Jersey Shore with its takeover of five Jersey Strong’s locations in Monmouth County.
As of Jan. 1, Jersey Strong’s locations in Wall, Tinton Falls, Ocean Township, Marlboro and Freehold Township are now Crunch Fitness gyms.
A statement shared by Fitness Holdings, a Crunch Fitness franchisee, said there will be “no interruption in the membership to your local gym.”
Dues and billing dates will remain the same too.
“Crunch will not be making any changes to your account,” the company said.
The five new locations total more than 160,000 square feet of space and adds to its two other existing locations at the Jersey Shore – a fitness center on Route 9 in Marlboro and another on Fischer Boulevard in Toms River. The Toms River location is moving to a former LA Fitness at Seacourt Pavilion on Hooper Avenue.
Crunch Fitness now has 29 locations in New Jersey.
Jersey Strong has remaining locations in Manalapan, East Brunswick, Old Bridge and Robbinsville, according to its website.
In August, Jersey Strong shuttered its Red Bank club, a landmark on West Front Street for more than 20 years. Stephen S. Roma, Jersey Strong’s owner and CEO, could not be reached for comment on the locations’ switch to Crunch Fitness.
The fitness centers that are affected are:
- Tinton Falls Plaza, 980 Shrewsbury Ave, Tinton Falls.
- Seaview Square shopping center, 2345 Route 66, Ocean Township.
- Plaza 35 shopping center, 1825 Route 35, Wall.
- Freehold Mall, 3681 Route 9, Freehold Township.
- Brook’s Edge Plaza, 79 S. Main St., Marlboro.
Fitness Holdings said it will make improvements to the gyms.
“We’re investing millions into renovations to make your gym even better,” the statement said. “We’ll have new equipment, relax and recovery areas, expanded free weights, updated locker rooms, and brand new amenities.”
Class formats and schedules won’t change and the fitness centers will remain open 24 hours a day using the same key card access. Personal training sessions will remain the same and pricing won’t change, the statement said.
