These macOS Sequoia Features Are Not Available On Macs With Intel Chips

Apple has been focusing more on extending support for Macs using Apple silicon by limiting some features to Intel-based Macs. This trend has been observed since 2021 when the macOS Monterey was rolled out, and similar patterns were observed for newer versions. Now, with the macOS Sequoia coming out, the company is continuing the deviation from Intel Macs by showing greater support for its in-house chips.

It has been recently revealed that some of the macOS Sequoia features would not be available for Intel Macs

While Apple states that macOS Sequoia extends to all the Macs that ran the macOS Sonoma, leaving out only the 2018 and 2019 MacBook Air versions, that is not entirely the case as some of the new features that come with this update would not be available for the Intel Mac users and they would miss out some significant updates.

Apple Intelligence capabilities are what users and the tech community have been anxiously waiting for, but they would be dismayed to find out that if you have an Intel-based Mac, the AI-infused features would not be available. This is because the new upgrades require an M1 chip or later versions. If users own a Mac that dates back to 2020 and earlier, the features would not be available. Although a macOS 15.1 update in October is expected to bring Apple Intelligence to Mac.

Similarly, Apple’s Live Audio Transcription feature is packed with great utility for users. It allows users to record audio in the notes, and transcriptions are then available in real-time for users to review at any time. This useful feature is also not available for Intel Mac users as it runs only on Apple’s silicon.

These feature limitations might come as a disappointment for Intel-based Mac users for the limitation it brings, but they would be relieved to know that they can indulge in other macOS Sequoia capabilities such as the Passwords app, scheduling messages for later, and many other new features. Even Apple’s latest Continuity feature is available for Intel Macs, as long as they come with a T2 Security Chip. If you are interested in getting more details on this, you can always go to the macOS 15 roundup.
