Anand Mahindra shared a video of the German gymnast, noting that he feels inspired by the fitness level of the 98-year-old.

Age is just a number! This 98-year-old female gymnast has truly lived up to the words as she continues to show off her impressive moves, despite being nearly a century old. Back in 2012, the German-born Johanna Quass even earned the Guinness World Record for the title of the world’s oldest gymnast. She was 86 years old at that time. While her determination and high spirits continue to inspire people, it has also left Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra quite amazed. The industrialist shared a video of Johanna Quaas, showing her performing some amazing moves.

Taking a cue from the 98-year-old as his mantra for Monday Motivation, Mahindra wrote, “98 years old. That’s right—Johanna Quaas is 98. Never say die. She’s my Monday Motivation.”

Social media users instantly reacted to the video and shared amazement over the woman’s fitness levels. A user wrote, “Someone rightly said that Age is just a number,” while another commented, “Inspiring.”

“Meanwhile, I’m in my 40s & it hurts to stand up. She’s got more energy than some people in their 20s. She has the Guinness World Record for being the world’s oldest active gymnast. She first started competing in gymnastics at the age of 10 and has done it for 9 decades,” another mentioned.

A person commented, “Practice makes man perfect. Good example of it!”

The video has so far gained over 1,00,000 views and more than 1,000 likes.

More about Johanna Quaas

The 98-year-old gymnast started competing at the age of 10 and hasn’t stopped ever since. “She performed a floor-and-beam routine on the set of ‘Lo Show dei Record’ in Rome, Italy, on 12 April 2012, where her record was certified,” Guinness World Records wrote.

While Quaas has already retired as a professional, she continues to follow her gymnastics routine. “My proudest moment so far was when I was 84 years old and there was no one in my age group competing in the championships,” she said in a conversation with The Strait Times.

She admitted training every day for an hour and following a healthy diet of lots of fruits and veg at this age. “My face is old but my heart is young. Maybe the day I stop doing gymnastics is the day I die,” she said.
