This Portland pizza is ranked among the best in the world — again
Ken’s Artisan Pizza has racked up yet another win.
50 Top Pizza, an Italian organization that compiles a list of the best pizzerias in the world every year, has released its list of the 50 best pizzerias across the globe for 2024.
Fifteen U.S. pizzerias made the cut — including the No. 1 pizza in the world. Una Pizza Napoletana in New York claimed the top spot on the list this year.
Portland’s Ken’s Artisan pizza was ranked No. 27.
Ken’s was the only Oregon restaurant on the list, and one of just three on the U.S. West Coast — Tony’s Pizza Napoletana in San Francisco and Pizzeria Sei in Los Angeles were the other two.
The only other Pacific Northwest entry was from British Columbia — Pizzeria Prima Strada in Victoria.
The top 50 finish isn’t too surprising given the accolades that Kens’ — and Portland pizza in general — have received over the past few years.
This year, Ken’s was named the No. 5 pizza in the U.S. in by Top 50 Pizza, which also ranked Portland favorite Nostrana and newcomer Grana Pizza Napoletana among the best in the country.
Ken’s is a perennial favorite on top 10 lists from travel and dining sites around the world.
Hapa Pizza in Beaverton was recently named one of the New York Times’ 22 best pizza places.
Earlier this year, Time Out magazine rated Portland as one of the 10 best food cities in the world — and a big reason for that was the quality of the Rose City’s pizza scene.
Ken’s was ranked No. 19 on the Top 50 Pizza global list in 2023.
Portland’s pizza scene has gotten a lot of attention over the years, with some pretty legitimate voices saying that it’s one of the best — if not the best — pizza cities in the U.S.
While those comments have caused controversy, at this point there seems to be some pretty strong evidence in favor of the idea. This October, our restaurant reporter Michael Russell is going to put those claims to the test — is Portland the best pizza city in the country? And, if so, where can you find the best pizza on offer in the best pizza town? Sign up for our Foodies newsletter to be notified when it publishes — or just watch this space.
