Thousands from around the world compete in Sarasota

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – International crowds are coming together at Nathan Benderson Park this week for a competition unlike any other: professional paddle-boating.

Competitors came from all over, including representatives from Greece, Brazil, and more.

The contest was far from finished Saturday as the technical competition began in earnest, going from quarterfinals, then semifinals, all the way to finals on the fourth day of the five-day event.

It all ends Sunday, when long distance racers have their own final championship. The kids race is also tomorrow, as well as the recreational and inflatable races, culminating in closing ceremonies toward the end of the afternoon.
