After five days of round-robin play, the women’s teams at the World Senior Championships played their quarter-finals on Thursday evening. Following these game, the semi-final stage is set.

In the quarter-finals, Switzerland faced Sweden, and won a tight game by 8-7 to move onto the semi-finals. They will now face Lithuania, who have made it to their first-ever semi-final, with an 11-1 victory over England.

Meanwhile Canada beat Latvia by 12-0 in just six ends. They will now face Scotland, who beat Japan by 5-4 in their quarter-final.

In the men’s competition, the quarter-final line-up is now set.

Sweden, who won their group without a loss, will face Czechia in Friday afternoon’s session, while Canada, undefeated in their round-robin programme, will be up against Norway.

In the other half of the draw, Switzerland, also undefeated so far, will be up against United States, while Scotland will play a Germany team who have yet to lose.

By coincidence, the overall rankings have produced a quarter-final draw where each group winner now plays against the runners-up from the same group.
