North Allegheny girls basketball finished up the weekend with a 1-1 record, falling to Oakland Catholic 60-44 in the Holiday Bash from UPMC Court Saturday.
The Eagles sprinted out to 24-9 advantage after a quarter of play. OC sophomore Madi Pullen and junior Savannah Daye provided a majority of the first half offense. The Tigers put up 16 points in the second frame, with the offense led by senior Leah Skweres and junior Maddie Willams early. Oakland Catholic held a 41-25 lead at the half.
NA junior Vange Balouris emerged as a major offensive threat in the second half, scoring 13 total points and taking home back-to-back Wright Automotive Player of the Game awards. Juniors Cate Pingpank and Rae Shanahan had strong performances in the paint, scoring four and eight points respectively. Skweres and Williams ended the contest with eight points each.
With the loss, NA falls to 2-6 overall. The Tigers return to action at home Friday January 3rd for a section matchup against Pine-Richland. The contest will be broadcast live on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
