Time Magazine names KC Current Stadium among ‘World’s Greatest Places 2024′

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – TIME revealed on July 25 that CPKC Stadium is a must-visit destination on it’s annual list of the World’s Greatest Places.

The list highlights 100 places people should visit and stay at when travelling.

The list was create by TIME gathering nominations of different places including hotels, restaurants, cruises, parks, museums and more from the international network of correspondents and contributors that TIME has. Creating the list also included an application process especially for new and exiting spaces.

“CPKC Stadium deserves to be recognized as one of TIME’s World’s Greatest Places,” said KC Current President Raven Jemison. “Ownership’s vision has changed women’s professional sports for generations to come. CPKC Stadium is proof that an investment in women is a smart one as we continue to sell out KC Current matches. Fans from all over the globe have made the trip to Kansas City to witness history. Now the world knows what the excitement is about; we’re just getting started.”

This stadium is the first in the world specifically built for a professional women’s team. Following it’s opening on march 24, the stadium was announced on July 3 as the venue for the 2024 National Women’s Soccer League Championship. This championship will be held on November 23. The stadium was also selected for the site to hold the 2024 Big 12 Soccer Championship and will hold the 2024 NWSL x Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup semifinals.

The stadium has quickly become a highlight of Kansas City and has sold out every NWSL home match. It has hosted several national conferences like the United States Conference of mayors and more local events like the local AANHPI Heritage Festival.

CPKC Stadium is a zero-waste venue meaning all drinkware across the stadium is reusable and recyclable. No single-use plastic bottles or cups are served within the stadium. The venue is working towards achieving the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Certification.
