Degenerates

NBA Indiana Pacers/NY Knicks Under 220.5 (-110; Odds via Caesars): 7:00 PM CT on TNT

Game 1 of this series got up and down the floor and cruised over the total, but I think adjustments are coming. First of all, both teams are not going to shoot well over 50% from the field again, so natural shooting regression will have a big impact. Secondly, the Knicks are bound to get control of the pace in their own building, and that means slowing things way down as the slowest-paced team in the league.

Additionally, Tyrese Haliburton is not fully healthy and that tends to have a big drain on Indiana’s elite offense. New York wants a more physical style, they’ve had time to adjust from Game 1, and we should see a game here that fits with the playoff unders trend.

Bonus Prop Picks (Odds via DraftKings)

TJ McConnell Over 17.5 Points+Rebounds+Assists (-110)

Ben Sheppard Over 6.5 Points+Rebounds+Assists (-110)

Obi Toppin Over 1.5 Made Three’s (+115)

Obi Toppin Over 4.5 Rebounds (+105)

MLB Boston Red Sox/Atlanta Braves First 5 Innings Under 4.5 (-110; Odds via Fanduel): 6:20 PM CT on NESN

A couple of powerful offenses in this game is keeping the total high enough to create a good opportunity on the under. At least for the first five innings, where I want to isolate an excellent matchup of starting pitchers. For Chris Sale, he gets to go against his former team which usually adds extra motivation, and he’s been looking more like his old self in two straight dominant starts.

And Nick Pivetta for Boston is likely on a light pitch count here after returning from the IL for an elbow issue, even more reason to only look at the first five innings here. But Pivetta was basically untouchable before the injury, and should return to form here. These teams only combined for two runs in the first five innings last night with excellent starting pitchers, and I see the same thing tonight.
